Welcome to 6J Class Page
Mrs Stout (am)
Hello and welcome to 6J’s class page! We hope you find this helpful and informative!
Our teacher is Miss James and we are supported in our learning by Mrs Davies and Mrs Stout.
We hope you are looking forward to your final year at Sherdley! Y6 is busy but so much fun! We can’t wait! Please keep an eye on our school app for updates!
PE for 6J is on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please make sure your child has a NAMED PE kit. Also, please bring your child to school WEARING their PE kit on PE days.
Please ensure your child is wearing an appropriate P.E kit.
Spelling/times tables tests
I know that lots of you are thinking about the SATs tests already so here is a link to a great website to help you with your Maths.
And here is a link to the CBBC page on ‘How to Survive the SATs’. It gives useful tips on how to remember some of the many things you have to learn this year and you can share your own ideas too.
If you are a keen and eager reader (like me!), here is a link to Michael Morpurgo’s website. This is where you can find out about him as an author and the many, many children’s books which he has written.
This is a link to more information about the author, Katherine Rundell, who wrote ‘The Explorer’. She has written several other books and you’ll find them listed here.
This is the link to J.K.Rowling’s ‘Pottermore’ website for those of you who love reading Harry Potter.
This is the link to a website about Robert Swindells who is the author of ‘Blitzed.’ He has written lots of books for children which you might enjoy reading too.
In Y6 we encourage children to learn their times tables at home and in class. The children can earn bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards in class when they know their times tables!
Spellings will be sent out half termly to learn. We also do spelling tests in class but the children learn these at school.
Reading is so important! Please read regularly with your child and also make sure they can answer comprehension questions about the book. Books can be brought in and changed on Tuesdays and Fridays.
In Y6 we work on a daily times table challenge. Children can earn these 4 badges: bronze, silver, gold and platinum! The children will be told which times table they need to work on to earn their next badge.
As a school, we encourage the children to learn their times tables, practice their half termly spellings and read at home. Don’t forget to log your reading on Go read!
SATs take place in May and they are absolutely nothing to worry about! More information on the Y6 SATs tests will be available nearer to the date of the tests!
We hope this page answers any questions you may have about 6J! In the meantime, if you have anything else you would like to ask, please don’t hesitate to come and speak to me/send me a message on class dojo!
