Our Sports Extra Curricular Offer

At Sherdley we believe in the value of a rich and varied extra-curricular programme. We aim to offer a variety of sports clubs that meet the needs of our pupils and help them STAY PHYSICALLY ACTIVE ALL YEAR ROUND! We are proud to have a designated PE coach - Mrs Lyon. She is a trained PE specialist that focuses on the planning and delivery of our PE sessions as well as our extra-curricular sports activities.

All clubs are chargeable of £1 per session and bookings are set in blocks of 5 sessions each. They change on a half termly basis – keep checking the Sherdley App to see what is available each term.

KS2 Get Fit Club (24 children)

More intensely physical classes to focus on your child’s fitness abilities. Working to increase stamina, muscle strength and flexibility. Helping them become better athletically in a fun and active way, to help increase their performance. This will help them improve in any sport they participate in, whether that is PE or clubs outside of school.

 

KS2 Dance Club (24 children)

This group will be focusing on learning different dance techniques including Hip-Hop, Jazz, Latin and Ballroom. As well as mastering performance skills and teamwork. 

 

KS1 Yoga Club (24 children)

A non-competitive practice that gives a fun way for your child to achieve their personal best while building strength, coordination, flexibility and balance. As well as helping to energise, focus and relax.

 

Multi-Skill Sports Club (24 children)

Fun activities which will help to develop your child’s fundamental movement skills. Focussing on Agility, Balance, and Coordination.

 

Running Club (24 children)

Cross-Country running club which will focus on your child’s fitness abilities. Working to increase stamina, muscle strength and flexibility so they can experience the great outdoors in a fun active way.

 

Orienteering Club (24 children)

Adventurous outdoor activities that will focus on teamwork, map reading, use of a compass and grid referencing by working in teams to find markers hidden around school grounds.

 

Gymnastics for Beginners (24 children)

Fun activities which will help to develop your child’s fundamental movement skills. Focussing on agility, balance, and co-ordination as well as the ability to follow simple routines to help your child become more confident and familiar with performing in front of their peers. Pease note that this is an opportunity for everyone who does not attend any gymnastic clubs outside the school. It will focus only on basic movements.

 

Indoor Athletics Club (24 children)

Focus on individual skills involving running, jumping and throwing. All of them are used in all types of sports as they are basics, but here we will focus on personal performance so you child can reach their best.

 

Hockey/Basketball Club (24 children)

Gives your child the opportunity to learn basic rules, participate in team games, develop simple tactics for attacking and defending in a hockey / basketball game.
