Cerebal Palsy Awareness

Fearne is a member of our Sherdley Family who was born with cerebral palsy and is currently in year 1. She is such an incredibly happy little girl, but life isn’t always easy for her. Living with CP affects Fearne in many ways; her movement, her speech, her digestive system, to name a few. Doing regular kids stuff can be exhausting for Fearne and even a short walk can mean she suffers with painful leg cramps that keep her awake at night. Early next year Fearne will be undergoing neurosurgery at Alder Hey hospital with the hope to give her better mobility and less cramping and spasticity. We already know what incredible staff this hospital has and what miracles they perform daily so we are reassured that she is in the best hands. Fearne’s sisters and cousins; Poppy, Molly, Sam, Alice, Ben, Lucy and Alfie adore Fearne and always help her so she can be a regular kid. They have decided that they want to prove that they will ‘go the extra mile’ for Fearne and therefore, for Fearne’s SIXTH birthday and to celebrate ‘World Cerebral Palsy Day’ on SIXTH October they want to walk SIX HUNDRED miles between them in the month of October. All proceeds will go to the Neurosurgery Department at Alder Hey, Fearne will walk the last mile, along with all her nearest and dearest on 31st October. To support Fearne, her family and Alder Hey Hospital we invite you all to wear something Green with your uniform on Wednesday 6th October. This might be green joggers, green trainers, green top, green wig, green eyeshadow or green socks. We are asking for a donation of a minimum of 50p via school money, there is an option to increase this amount should you want too.
