School Council Visit the Houses of Parliament

On Friday 11th of October, some of our school councillors went to London to have a tour of the Houses of Parliament.

We met early in the morning at Warrington Bank Quay station and travelled to London, arriving at 9.10am!

After getting off the train, we travelled by taxis and were taken to Trafalgar Square, which was interesting because it was full of protestors. When we all met up, we walked along The Mall and saw Buckingham Palace and the Guards walking past us.

The rain had stopped so we were able to eat our dinner in St James' Park before we walked to  the Houses of Parliament.

We were met by Damien, our guide, and taken through security into a room to watch a film about the history of Parliament in our country.

After that we were shown around and taken into the House of Commons. We weren't allowed to sit on the benches though! The children were asked to decide what laws they would like to discuss; Aiden said he would like to make sure all fruit bowls contain a banana!

When we had all been in the shop, we caught our taxis back to the station to get the train home, but not before we all had tea from Burger King.

We arrived home, very tired but we all had a fantastic time. The children were all brilliant and we received lots of positive comments from members of the public. Maybe one day, we can visit again.
